Trichology
Trichology is the study of the relationship between the human body and its natural environment and is covered in several books and articles as well as in the popular science fiction series.
The word trichology is derived from the Greek word ‘Trikhos, which means hair, and was first conceived in Britain in the late 19th century as a special subject. In 1902 it became a "special para-medical discipline" and later a discipline of the British Medical Association.
Today trichology is understood as a bridge between cosmetology and dermatology and is one of the most important disciplines in the field of hair and skin care. A trichologist is someone who specializes in hair, skin, hair follicles or other body parts.
Some forms of alopecia are also treated by a trichologist, such as hair follicles, hair loss and even hair growth disorders such as warts.
