Sugar Technology

• The aim of sugar technology is to disseminate knowledge about sugar technologies and to extend scientific guidance to sugar factories in order to improve overall technical performance. It deals with the production, refinement and packaging of sugar from sugar cane.

• The aim is to control sugar losses in the production process and to improve the quality of the end product at lower costs. The Alcohol Technology Section aims to support the distillery industry in its economic development by helping it to develop its capacities and skills through a trained workforce, to promote, develop and introduce better technologies in its priority areas. Sugar and Alcohol Technology courses are divided into two sections, Sugar Technology and Alcohol Technology, each with its own objectives.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

• Check raw materials from which the finished product is processed, and the final product in the form of the product itself.

• Investigation of the changes to which food is exposed during storage and processing.

• Search and improve the quality of foods.

• Use knowledge of chemistry, microbiology or other sciences to look for differences between different types of food and their ingredients, as well as differences in their nutritional value.

• Solve problems in product development and test new products in a variety of ways, e.g. in the laboratory, on a large scale and in real situations.

• Sugar Boiling certificate holders are eligible for the post of Panman, Head Panman, Laboratory Chemist etc. in sugar factories

• Can start an entrepreneur project as a sugar production plant

• Go for higher studies or research & development

• You can also opt for an Academic career through NET/JRF
