What is Psychiatry?

Psychiatry treats mental disorders, which are usually divided into three very general categories:

Involuntary consent criteria vary depending on local jurisdiction. They can be as extensive as a mental state or as close as an immediate threat to themselves or others.

How To Become A Psychiatrist?

In order to become a psychiatrist, it is helpful to have psychology or biology in school. At graduation level, although any bachelor’s degree will suffice a degree that is in psychology, chemistry or medicine goes a long way in aiding you on your journey. You need to take the NEET exam if you need a medical science line.

All doctors can diagnose mental disorders and recommend psychiatric-based treatment. Psychiatrists specializing in psychiatry are certified for the treatment of mental illness. Although psychiatrists can also undergo intensive training in

  • Psychoanalysis

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy

Specialist instruction training usually includes one or two more years of training.

Military psychiatry covers specific aspects of psychiatry and mental disorders in a military context.

Neuropsychiatry is a field of medicine dealing with mental disorders resulting from diseases of the nervous system.
