What is Interior Designing?

Interior designing is the art of designing, planning and executing the interior spaces of an apartment, building or other relevant architectural structure to suit the aesthetic needs of the client.

What do they do?

Interior designers are the people who are well trained in executing and visualising an aesthetic. They are given an empty, unconstructed space inside a house/ building and are asked to design concepts so that it suits the needs of their client. Their work includes choosing the colour pallets, positioning of furniture and the type of it as well as constructing the space to be a viable living ecosystem for the clients.

Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes

  • Conceptual development

  • Space planning

  • Site inspections

  • Programming, Research

  • Communicating with the stakeholders of a project

  • Construction management, and execution of the design.

What is the eligibility and admission criteria?

Usually, 10+2 and 50% is the eligibility and 40% in the case of reserved candidates. The course is open for all streams.

How to become one?

There are no indirect examples as to how to become an interior designer. One can pursue a bachelor's degree and postgraduate degree/diploma to have an institutional approval of their skills. But the most important factor in both college acceptance and your credibility as an interior designer comes from building a portfolio. So one should immediately start building a portfolio for himself or herself in order to be an interior designer.
