Cardiology is that branch of medicine and medical treatment that handles the various kinds of malfunctioning of the heart of the human body. It is a medical speciality which deals with not only the diagnosis but also the treatment of heart problems of a patient.

A cardiologist is the heart specialist who:

  • Undertakes examination of patients with special attention to the functioning of their hearts and assesses the condition of their heart 

  • Imparts knowledge to patients about risks of pursuing prohibited and harmful activities together with giving advice for ensuring better heart health.

  • If required, write out suitable prescriptions for addressing problems if present or likely to occur.

  • When the heart condition of the patient warrants undertake surgical processes for treating the patients 

  • Monitor the improvement and further steps to be taken by the patient.

To become a certified cardiologist one needs to complete MBBS by clearing NEET National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate and then NEET-PG for speciality course, then they can opt for a 3 years MD and 3-years DM (Cardiology) from a reputed college/University/Institute
