A trademark lawyer/attorney is a person who has expertise in issues pertaining to trademark practices, designs, and laws. He/she is an individual with immense knowledge in trademark statutes and represents their clients on these matters.

A trademark lawyer/attorney has several responsibilities including helping organizations on choosing a new trademark for the company and making sure that the selected trademark is unregistered for another company so as to not infringe the rights of another organization.

They also coordinate with the Indian trademark registry for registration procedures on behalf of their clients. If someone violates or infringes any trademark, it is the responsibility of a trademark attorney/lawyer to assist his/her clients by dispatching a “cease and desist” mail.

To become a trademark lawyer in India, the minimum qualification required is an LLB degree from any of the recognized law schools of the country. Here are some of the other eligibility criteria and skills required to become a trademark lawyer/attorney in India:

Candidates who have cleared their 12th class can pursue an LLB course based on the Common Law Admission Test or CLAT conducted every year
