What is Robotics?
Robotics is the collision of science, technology and engineering producing machines, known as robots, that replace (or replicate) human actions.
Robotics deals with robot design, maintenance, operation, and use, and computer systems for their control, cognitive feedback, and processing of information.
Today, we are experiencing an evolving and extended concept of robotics that involves the production, creation, and use of robots that can navigate the harshest environments on Earth, robots that support law enforcement and even robots that assist in almost every area of healthcare.
How to become a Robotics expert?
To pursue an Undergraduate (UG) engineering degree, you should have passed 10+2 in science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) from a recognized board.
To get into top engineering colleges such as IITs and NITs, you need to appear for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) and full the required eligibility criteria (performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and the Joint Entrance Examination).
Independent entrance tests are also held by the various state, central, and private universities which mostly require 50% as the prerequisite to appear for the test. (minimum percentage may vary in case of reserved and girl candidate and college requirement.)
Robotics being an academic course favors students with a background in robotics and artificial intelligence who have finished their graduation in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, instrumentation engineering or computer engineering.
What are the skills required to be a Robotics engineer?
Good command over applied mathematics, science
Willingness to learn technology
Complexity solving skill
What are the different Academic programs in Robotics Engineering?
Robotic engineering courses are available in a variety of ways and graduates who wish to pursue their degree in India may opt for
B.Tech in Automation and Robotics
BE in Advanced Robotics, etc.
Postgraduate and Ph.D. courses include M.Tech in Robotics
M.Tech in Automation and Robotics
M.Tech in Intelligent Systems and Robotics
M.Tech in Mechatronics and Ph.D.in Robotics.
At the master and doctoral level, students should take up the specialization listed below as their main subject:
Micro-robotics Digital electronics and microprocessors
Data not available
What are the Job Career Prospects in Robotics Engineering?
In India, robotics engineering is regarded as a high-end professional career. A candidate who has professional education in Robotics engineering is eagerly anticipating tremendous job opportunities.
Students in India looking for good robotics courses will enter it at either the undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
Students can take a four-year BE or B-Tech course in robotics engineering after completing class 12th or sign up for a five-year dual degree program.
They have to take many entrance exams for colleges like All India Engineering Entrance Exams (AIEEE), Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam (IIT JEE), and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
They can choose a speciality from engineering in electrical, mechanical and electronics. After completing BE/B-Tech, another option is to pursue a postgraduate robotics course.
Throughout manufacturing plants, labs, medical professions, mining, construction, sciences, aerospace engineering, agriculture engineering, etc., and a robotic engineer can be hired.
In the gaming industry and manufacturing units, there is a great demand for robotic engineers, too.
If the applicant has GREAT records of merit, then research organizations such as ISRO and NASA can hire them.
What is the Expected Salary?
Robotics is an extremely demanding engineering sector and is also competitive for job prospects.
The average salary of a robotics engineer graduate is Rs 3,58,177.
The average salary with an experience 1-4 years of Rs 414,488.
The average salary with a mid-career is Rs 600,000.
There is massive scope for robotic engineers, and they work in space research, entertainment, banking, medicine, and healthcare, etc.

Some interesting facts
A Ford production line worker, Robert Williams was the first human in history to have been murdered by a robot. He'd been struck in 1979 by a robotic arm.
Jamie Hyneman built Blendo, a fighting robot deemed too dangerous for Robot Wars after repeatedly throwing bits of his opponents across the walls of the arena. It gained the status of a co-championship in exchange for removal from the competition.
